THE STONE ROSES REUNITE!

The Stone Roses have confirmed they have reunited at a press conference this afternoon (October 18).

The original line-up - frontman Ian Brown, guitarist John Squire, bassist Mani and drummer Reni - announced the news at London's Soho Hotel at 3pm (BST) this afternoon where they revealed plans for two homecoming gigs at Heaton Park on June 29-30 in 2012 before embarking on an extensive world tour.

Brown declared:
This is a live resurrection, and you're invited, so you'd better be there.
Follow our live blog from the press conference

They also revealed they are working on new material and intend to perform some at the shows. Tickets for the double header go on sale at 9.30am this Friday (October 21). For further information go to their newly launched The Stone Roses official website Thestoneroses.org.

Later, Brown also said the band decided to finally reform because "at times like this you can uplift people" and they would carry on "until the wheels fall off". Meanwhile, Mani said the reunion was a "suck it and see thing", while Reni revealed he "would be happy with 12 months".

When asked if the band were working on a new album Brown added: "We hope so. But we said that before didn't we?"

He confirmed that they have been rehearsing in the studio and Mani added: "Something magical happens when us four are in the room together, you can't put your finger on it. It's just beautiful to capture it again. I've missed it."

The bassist also said that he has been allowed to leave his current band Primal Scream to "follow his dream".

The four-piece admitted they each had personal reasons for the reunion, while Brown criticised the current music scene, saying it was "boring, bland and corporate with nobody saying anything".

Whispers of a Stone Roses reunion started to circulate back in 2005 after Mani joined Brown onstage during his solo gigs in Blackpool and Glastonbury. However, Mani was quick to put a lid on reports of a full band reunion, telling NME at the time they would only reform when "Manchester City win the European Cup".

Meanwhile, on the 20th anniversary of the band's self-titled debut album in 2009, reunion rumours began to surface again, only to be shot down by Brown and Squire. To underline his stance, the guitarist even released artwork which stated: "I have no desire whatsoever to desecrate the grave of seminal Manchester group The Stone Roses."

However, it was in April this year that reunion rumours surrounding the group went into overdrive when Brown and Squire met at Mani's mum's funeral and reportedly buried the hatchet.

Mani once again angrily denied reports that the band were set to reunite, telling NME: "I'm disgusted that my personal grief has been invaded and hijacked by these nonsensical stories." Squire added that reforming for a bumper payday would be "tragic".

However, it seems that over the ensuing six months the band have ironed out their differences to some degree.

Reports that the band were back together surfaced on Friday (14), when a major music PR circulated an invite to a press conference for the following Tuesday, promising a "very important announcement" but refusing to deny or confirm suggestions that the band in question were The Stone Roses.

Subsequent tabloid stories suggested that Brown had revealed details of the reunion to his friend Dynamo, a street magician who claimed he received a text from the singer confirming the band was to reunite. Meanwhile, Reni was more cryptic about his involvement, contacting NME to say: "Not before 9T will I wear the hat 4 the Roses again".

The reformation comes some 31 years after the seeds of the band were first planted, when Brown and Squire met at Altrincham Grammar School For Boys and formed short-lived Clash-inspired band The Patrol.

After short spells in other bands, the pair teamed up with future drummer with The Fall Simon Wolstencroft and bassist Peter Garner in 1984 to form the first incarnation of The Stone Roses, with Brown now taking up vocal duties. Within months Wolstencroft quit to join Terry Hall's band The Colourfield, paving the way for long term sticksman Reni.

In 1985 The Stone Roses recorded their first ever single, double A-side 'So Young/Tell Me'. Four years later they released their landmark self-titled debut LP, which entered the UK album chart at Number 32 in May 1989. They later scored their first Top 40 hit with 'She Bangs The Drums'.

That same year the band gained widespread notoriety when the power cut out during a TV performance on BBC's The Late Show. Brown repeatedly chanted "amateurs" at TV presenter Tracy MacLeod.

Signature anthem 'Fool's Gold' put the band firmly on the map with a Number Eight hit later in 1989, before the band played in front of 27,000 fans at their legendary/infamous gig at Spike Island in Widnes the following year, dubbed a "Woodstock for the baggy generation".

It took the band more than five years to release their second album, 1994's 'The Second Coming'. Although it marked a departure from their baggy debut and wasn't as warmly received by fans and critics as their debut, it still spawned the four-piece's highest-charting single when 'Love Spreads' went to Number Two.

Reni left the band in March 1995 and Squire followed suit a year later, citing "gradual social and musical separation" as the official reason for his departure.

The remaining line-up eventually split after a disastrous performance at Reading Festival in August 1996 - a gig that appeared to be the band's shambolic swansong until today's reunion announcement.

Cerita serban kuning

Pinjam cerita orang tua-tua, merapu sat...

Kisah serban kuning pernah diceritakan oleh orang tua-tua zaman dahulu. Ia berkisar tentang ujian terakhir pengamal ilmu hitam.

A: Tok apa ujian terakhir?
B: Jumpa bapak iblis.
A: Bagaimana caranya?
B: Senang sahaja amik habuk papan keranda, bakar dan abunya calit di kening. Lepas tu ko tunggu bawah rumah orang mandi mayat. Nanti ko tengok ramaila puak-puak tu mai datang mandi bawah tu. Ko tunggu sampai penghabisan, yang last tu nanti datang pakai serban kuning.

A: Siapa yang pakai serban kuning tu?
B: Itulah dia bapak iblis.
A: Lepas tu nak buat apa?
B: Nanti dia datang bawak tongkat, ko rampas tongkat tu lepas tu lari terjun sungai bersihkan mata ko.
Nanti malam dia datang mintak tongkat dia balik, masa tu ko minta la apa ko nak mintak. Buatla perjanjian.
A: Perjanjian iblis ke Tok?
B: Betul perjanjian Iblis.

Worth Fighting For

You said I would never find a way to ease your mind
That where I'd go you'd wind up in the dust
I tried so hard to have you reach another side of me
Instead you went to nowhere and forgot

So I moving on
Askin' where you might have gone
From what I knew before
Some things are worth fighting for

Desert heat can wear you down, but still I’m rolling through
Did I see your figure in the haze
I am driven by your thirst, to quench myself of love
The sun beats on me for the price I pay

So I moving on
Askin' where you might have gone
From what I knew before
Some things are worth fighting for
Yeah

Night road leads me to a town of ghost
I'm beckoned by the glow, of kerosene, and tumble weed

They're calling out
Forevermore
Worth fighting for

I’m leaning in the wind
Head bowed down from what I saw
My shadow for a friend
So some things are worth fighting for

So I'm moving on
Askin' where you might have gone
From what I knew before
Some things are worth fighting for

Yeah

Bye Bye Badman - FRENCH STUDENT RIOTS OF 1968

This song was written by John Squire and Ian Brown about the French student riots of 1968.
Ian Brown explained the song: "Imagine a protester singing [it] in a policeman's face during the Paris riots.
Then you'll get some idea what it's about."
Here he come
Got no question got no love
I'm throwing stones at you man
I want you black and blue and
I'm gonna make you bleed
Gonna bring you down to your knees

Bye bye badman
Ooh bye bye

THE SAINTS - GAMBLING WITH THE DEVILS

THE SAINTS ARE MARCHING AGAIN...IN HARMONY

All you shysters
Seek shelter on the last day
While you laugh loud, disclaiming
As your dire end will come/dawn on you
Ah you..!
Possessed, in your mask, and a dirty heart
Unrest in ye must've been the devil in all of us
The saints are marching again
And harvest souls
Taking every single one
The saints march again
And harmony
Is here, ye can go testify

THE CLANSMAN

Is it right to believe in the need to be free.

They are taking our land - That belongs to the clans!

Ancestors could hear what is happening now.

They would turn in their graves!

They would all be ashamed.

That the land of the free has been written in chains.

No, no we can't let them take anymore.

No we can't let them take anymore.

We've the land of the free.

I am the clansman.

Garota de Ipanema

Girl from Ipanema

Tall and tan and young and lovely
The girl from ipanema goes walkingAnd when she passes, each one she passes goes - ah
When she walks, she’s like a samba
That swings so cool and sways so gentle
That when she passes, each one she passes goes - ooh(ooh)
but I watch her so sadly
How can I tell her I love her
Yes I would give my heart gladly
But each day, when she walks to the seaShe looks straight ahead, not at me
Tall, (and) tan, (and) young, (and) lovely
The girl from ipanema goes walking
And when she passes, I smile - but she doesn’t see
(doesn’t see)(she just doesn’t see, she never sees me,...)

This day we fight!

Music & Lyrics - Mustaine

For this I was chosen because I fear nothing
With confidence I tread through the dead of the night
Off to another war torn, far away battlefield
Wherein lies a daemonic enemy horde

On this day I desire to anoint my fists
Engaging them in the mode of power and war
Stopping at nothing that's short of fulfilling my destiny
Willing to die and I will, after you for what I believe

Solo - Chris

A desperate avenger striking fear in their hearts
Invading their dreams before the day even starts

Solo - Dave

Whet with your blood, I sharpen my sword
No turning the other cheek like a coward
Come tomorrow I may lay down and die
But not this day

Sent on an unholy quest, to reduce all those who resist
To the size of their shriveled up souls and scatter them like grist
I vanquished the strangleholds that the netherworld sets for me
The last request of my life is to die killing my enemies

Solo - Chris

Bathed in blood up to the horses' bridle
Its death to retreat, there's no chance of survival

Solo - Dave

Whet with your blood, I sharpen my sword
No turning the other cheek like a coward
Come tomorrow I may lay down and die
But not this day, this day we fight!

This day we fight!

Strip the fallen heroes, finish off the wounded
Collect the spoils of war and send them back dead

Solo - Dave
Solo - Chris
Solo - Dave

This day we fight!
This day I fight!

This Day We Fight!

Mustaine's most important life lesson: Love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as you would yourself, family is the most important thing in this life, without your fans you are nothing, and its easier to understand than to be understood.

Helloween - The king for a 1000 years - Part 1

Music: M. Weikath, A. Deris, M. Grosskopf, S. Gerstner, D. Loble / Lyrics: A. Deris

Forgotten in his reich of shadows-
Banned forever, one thought-
The Lord of evil was given name and place
Of the seventh sea, shelter of the seventh key
Who was betraying us? I guess you know
There would be more than one name to name
Now he, whose name is many, searches for the one...
The one strong enough to survive as his terrestial hand
enticement and promise will crown a king-
A puppet on a string- for a 1000 years,
...so they sing...

...............................
I know your secrets
I know it all

I know your secrets
I see the hidden without light
I am your sickness
Bitting you right behind your eyes
Don't try to kill me
......................................
Brother, believe me
Father, conceive me
Brother, believe me
Perceive me

Time will be a turning wheel
We shove or retard
Time will be a toy
Time we will enjoy
Say you want to live forever
Minus one day
Say you will obey and I

I will show - I will show
I will show your Reich of gold
And I will show - I will show
I will show you friend and foe

UK minister aims to reassure photographers

The UK Policing and Crime Minister has reasserted that anti-terrorism should not be used to stop photographers and photojournalists. In a meeting with a Parliamentary photography group and journalists, David Hanson MP said the Sections 44 and 58A of the 2000 Terrorist Act should not be 'used to stop ordinary people taking photos or to curtail legitimate journalistic activity'. He also said guidance to that effect has been provided to the UK police forces, advising that these powers should not be used to stop innocent members of the public, tourists and journalists.

Statement:

Policing and Crime Minister David Hanson MP said:

"I recently met with Austin Mitchell MP, members of the Parliamentary All Party Photography Group and representatives of the photographic press and the Royal Photographic Society to discuss the issue of counter terrorism powers and offences in relation to photography.

"I welcomed the opportunity to reassure all those concerned with this issue that we have no intention of Section 44 or Section 58A being used to stop ordinary people taking photos or to curtail legitimate journalistic activity.

"Guidance has been provided to all police forces advising that these powers and offences should not be used to stop innocent member of the public, tourists or responsible journalists from taking photographs.

"These powers and offences are intended to help protect the public and those on the front line of our counter terrorism operations from terrorist attack. For the 58A offence to be committed, the information is of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.

"I have committed to writing to Austin Mitchell MP to reinforce this message and to follow-up on the representations made to me at today's meeting.”

Helloween - The King For A 1000 Years Part 2

I KNOW YOUR SECRET - I KNOW IT ALL

Solo: Sascha/Sascha/Weiki/Sascha/Weiki/Markus

[Women's choir *]

[Not included in the booklet *]

Don't release us now he sees us
No illusions, executions
The damnation, the annihilation
The non-stopping celebration

Alienation, elimination, chaos, no exoneration
No believers, all deceivers, no illusion, executions

Melody: Sascha

We are King For A 1000 Years
We are king of a million tears
We're the ones who bring desire

Binding their greed and fears
We are king of fallen men
We are keepers of the damned
Turning hope into obsession
We are the king

We are The King For A 1000 Years
Ages of fire - Aeon of darkness, fear and hate
Wake up my creatures

Stand up you bringers of man's fate
No one can kill us
We cannot die, a death one knows

Mankind is sleeping
My victory near, their end so close

I know their secrets
I know it all

Solo: Both/Sascha/Weiki

Goodbye sorrows
Borrow me your hand to turn the key
Release me - Believe me

Goddbye sorrows
Never more you have to fear futurity
Goodbye sorrows
Borrow me your hand to turn the key

Conceive me

Time will be a turning wheel
We shove or retard
Time will be a toy
Time we will enjoy
Say you want to live forever
Minus one day
Say you will obey and I

I will show - I will show
I will show your Reich of gold
And I will show - I will show
I will show you friend and foe

We are King For A 1000 Years
We are king of a million tears
We're the ones who bring desire

Binding their greed and fears
We are king of fallen men
We are keepers of the damned
Turning hope into obsession

We are the king

Hellaprint!

Helloween in the making.

This is my 2nd t-shirt with the German band logo on it. The first was 'I Want Out', and it was printed at Pudu Raya Bus Station, ages ago back in the late 80's. It was then my 'after-school port' after a long journey back home from Simpang Lima - now Khir Toyo's port (Kawasan DUN laaa). Apparently, to make a simple print like this in those years will be hell of a messy job- with block, dye, brushes, hair dryer, masking tapes and such. Now it is all machined, dried and cleaned.

Ohh mann...I really missed all the fun, the time where the heavy metal rules!

GF1 Leather Jacket, originally uploaded by TMPFOTO.
GF1 Leather Jacket

I spent about two weeks to design and finish the jacket for the GF1. Now it has the fit - rugged - classic - button looks that I have always wanted to have on the cam.

Always, try to finish to what you have started. Patience is a virtue. Satisfaction is mine :-)

Interested? I can do one for you...  29/01/2011 I officially thinking of stop making it.  time constraint.

And there are only 2 copies in the world, one is mine; I used it eversince with the GF1 for my photojournalist work, the other one is due to be sent out to france but still pending...maybe i'll keep it as a classic piece.

M Zuiko 17mm was designed to have CA?

Olympus UK has been doing something we found quite interesting. How do you promote a new class of camera to a mainstream audience without confusing them with talk of mirrors and sensor sizes? Its solution appears to be to not talk about cameras at all - instead it's got Kevin Spacey to talk about pictures and memories.
There's something of a split in the office about how pretentious the results are, but we thought they were interesting.

A day with my new GirlFriend...

Weekend is where the 'time' have to be made available for family matters. Perhaps a day in the city would be refreshing to some(?). As for me it is never refreshing, but with my new GF - things change. So, be it. Along with my new GF I strolled-down the street. Nobody will notice it, if they do, who cares anyway.

As usual, my other half couldn't help envying me spending more time with the GF...:-) What to do...it is my new GF..C'monnnn.....

Im-promptu point and shoot! It's a crime though :-)

I normally solve this problem with flash. But i need the object to be partly silhouetted

I don't know why measurebators like to condemn the Zuiko 17mm 2.8 lens. Or is it my eyes that in need to be fixed, well I my self couldn't figure it out. Perhaps I need to wear microscope instead of normal spectacle. For whatever reason, with the combination of both, I managed to get the shot that I wanted without any problem. Seriously, with the new tool I really feel the absence of my D2H - no more body-aching so to speak :-)
